Harris - Sarah Hall

Tilden (Neb.) Citizen: Sarah B. Hall was born in Shelby County, Kentucky, May 9, 1815, and died near Tilden, Neb., Oct. 29, 1895. When 15 years of age she immigrated with her parents to Montgomery County, Indiana, riding horseback the entire distance of 300 miles. She was married to John Harris September 19, 1833, and was the mother of thirteen children. She immigrated with her husband to Linn County, Iowa, in 1849, and moved to Benton County in 1855. She removed to Madison County, Nebraska in May, 1871, and settled on a homestead near where she died. She buried her husband in 1877 and has since lived with her children on and near the old homestead. She gave her heart to the Savior and united with the Baptist Church the month in which she was fourteen years of age and has been a member of the church 66 years.  Four brothers survive her, Y. P., S. I., and Richard Hall, of Montgomery County, Indiana, and Wm Hall of Fresno, California. She leaves five children, Mrs. R. E. Thompson, of Vinton, Iowa; John A. Harris, of Brunswick, Neb.; Perry C. and Jose Harris, of Tilden, and Mrs. Fannie White, of Ocheydan, Iowa. She also numbers among her descendants fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Besides she leaves a large circle of friends to mourn our loss. -s
